How long does it take?
It depends on your device and the video. With a GPU it usually takes 4 to 7 times the length of the video: a 1-minute video takes 4 to 7 minutes. On a phone without a GPU it takes much longer.
What kind of subtitles does it detect?
The most common ones: white or yellow letters with a black outline. It does not yet detect subtitles on a black box or text without an outline.
Why can I sometimes see where the subtitles were?
Because the AI rebuilds the background the letters covered. On plain backgrounds it is invisible; on very detailed ones, like a keyboard or text, a faint mark can remain.
Is it legal to remove subtitles from a video?
It is meant for your own videos or content you have permission to use. Removing the subtitles from someone else's video to publish it may infringe copyright.
What do I do if it doesn't remove the subtitles?
It is almost always the subtitle style. The Only the letters mode looks for white or yellow letters with a dark outline; if your subtitles have a box, a colored background, a shadow or a thick outline (CapCut and TikTok captions), it can't see them and the video comes out unchanged. Switch to Whole strip: it erases everything inside the strip in every frame, adjust its edges so it covers just the subtitles and try it on one frame before processing everything. Keep in mind that burned-in subtitles are part of the image: they can't be removed to reveal the original background, the AI rebuilds it. On plain backgrounds it is invisible; on very detailed or moving backgrounds a mark can remain.
