Compress video, free
WhatsApp · email · Discord · custom size · nothing is uploaded
- 100% free
- No signup
- Nothing is uploaded
- No watermark
This tool reduces a video's file size without uploading it to any server: it re-encodes it inside your browser, using your device's own video encoder. You pick what it's for (sending on WhatsApp, attaching to an email, posting on Discord, or an exact size) and get back an MP4 that plays on any phone. Free, no signup, no watermark and no limit on how many videos.
How to compress a video in 3 steps
Add the video
Drop an MP4, MOV (iPhone) or WebM. It isn't uploaded to any server: your browser reads it.
Choose what it's for
Recommended, WhatsApp, email (under 20 MB), Discord (under 10 MB) or any size you want.
Download the MP4
See the size before and after, preview it and download it. No watermark.
Why use this compressor
Free and unlimited
No paid plan, no watermark and no daily cap on videos.
No signup
No email or account: open the page and compress.
Your video isn't uploaded
It's compressed inside your browser. Nobody else sees it, not even us.
Built around where it's going
Instead of tweaking bitrates, you pick the destination and the tool works out resolution and quality.
Fast
Uses your device's video encoder (WebCodecs), usually hardware-accelerated.
MP4 that opens anywhere
Outputs H.264 + AAC, the format WhatsApp, iPhone, Android and Windows all play.
What it's for
A minute of 4K footage can weigh hundreds of MB; at 720p it drops to a fraction and sends much faster.
Attach to an email
Gmail accepts attachments up to 25 MB and Outlook up to 20 MB: "For email" gets it under both.
Post on Discord
Without Nitro, Discord accepts files up to 10 MB.
Upload to a form or LMS
Assignments, applications and online forms often cap uploads at 50 or 100 MB: use "Custom size".
Free up phone storage
Compress long videos you want to keep and delete the heavy originals.
Lessons and presentations
Record your screen and shrink it before sharing with students or your team.
How is it different from other compressors?
Most online compressors upload your video to their server, add a watermark or cap the size unless you pay. This one works differently:
- The video never leaves your device: it's compressed in your browser.
- No watermark, no account and no limit on videos.
- Pick the destination (WhatsApp, email, Discord) instead of fighting with bitrates.
- Up to 2 GB and 4K, with no slow upload to wait for.
Frequently asked questions
How do I compress a video for free without losing quality?
Add the video and choose "Recommended": it keeps up to 1080p with a bitrate tuned to what the eye notices, so it's much smaller and looks almost the same. Every compression loses some detail; if you need it even smaller, "For WhatsApp" goes down to 720p.
How do I make a video smaller to send on WhatsApp?
Choose "For WhatsApp": the video comes out at 720p as an MP4 (H.264), the format any phone plays. It's free and the video isn't uploaded to any server.
How do I send a video larger than 25 MB on Gmail?
Choose "For email" and the video comes out under 20 MB, so it fits both Gmail (25 MB) and Outlook (20 MB). For long videos the resolution drops so it fits; for videos over 5 to 10 minutes a Google Drive link works better.
How do I get a video under 10 MB for Discord?
Choose "For Discord": it works out the quality to stay under 10 MB, the limit without Nitro. For long videos the resolution drops to 480p or 360p so it fits.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. It's compressed inside your browser with WebCodecs; the file never leaves your computer or phone. That's also why there's no video limit and no queue.
Does it work with iPhone videos (MOV/HEVC)?
Yes, as long as your browser can play them: Safari and Chrome on Mac and most recent devices read HEVC. The result is an H.264 MP4, which opens on Android and Windows without issues.
What is the size limit?
Up to 2 GB, 60 minutes and 4K per video. Since nothing is uploaded, the real limit is your device's memory; on phones it's best to compress videos under 10 minutes.
Why didn't my video get smaller?
Because it was already well compressed (for example, downloaded from social media). Try "For WhatsApp" or set a custom size lower than its current size.
